Activity Replayy [3] is a 2010 Indian Hindi-language science-fiction romantic comedy moving-picture show directed by Vipul Amrutlal Shah and starring Akshay Kumar and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.[four] Aditya Roy Kapur, Neha Dhupia, Rannvijay Singh, Om Puri, Kirron Kher and Rajpal Yadav play supporting roles in the picture show. The plot is inspired past the 1985 moving-picture show Dorsum to the Future.[five] [6] Director Vipul Amrutlal Shah however insists that information technology is an adaptation of a Gujarati play of the same name[half dozen] and of H. The story focuses on Bunty (Aditya Roy Kapur), who does not want to become married considering of the loveless relationship betwixt his parents. Bunty's girlfriend, Tanya (Sudeepa Singh), keeps proposing to him but he always rejects. She takes Bunty to her grandfather, Anthony Gonsalves (Randhir Kapoor), who happens to be a scientist and he is working on a time machine. Anthony asks Bunty why he refuses to get married. Bunty says that he is scared of marriage considering his parents seem so unhappy with theirs.

On their 35th anniversary, Bunty's parents, Kishen (Akshay Kumar) and Mala (Aishwarya Rai Bachchan) arrive an argument because of her friend Kundan (Rannvijay Singh). Kundan used to bully Kishen and tries to repeat it after all these years. Mala doesn't stop him, moreover laughs over Kishen along with her friends. This leads to a fight between Kishen and Mala and it goes too far that they determine to get a divorce. When Bunty hears this, he runs to Anthony's lab to utilise the time machine and go dorsum in time, so that he can make his parents fall in love.

Without Anthony'due south supervision, Bunty enters the time machine and goes dorsum to 1975, a time before his parents got married. He finds his grandfather's business firm, where he sees Kishen. Bunty realises that the younger Kishen was an unattractive, weak and socially awkward youth, whereas the younger Mala was attractive likewise as spirited. Mala keeps making fun of Kishen. Bunty makes Kishen over into a 'cool dude' with the assist of coin he borrowed from younger Anthony. Mala'due south friend Mona (Neha Dhupia) falls in beloved with Bunty.

As expected, his parents are securely in honey with each other. But, unexpectedly, Mona and Kundan are also married to each other. Bunty so takes Tanya aside, proposes to her, and she accepts happily.

Filming scheduled for Manali in July 2010 was rescheduled when landslides blocked the roads virtually Rohtang Pass and the coiffure was evacuated by the regular army.[9]

Action Replayy was panned by critics. Rajeev Masand of CNN-IBN rated it i.5/five: "Sorely defective in drama and genuine sense of humour, Action Replayy is mind-numbingly dull considering there'due south no conflict or plot progression, and everything seems to fall into place too conveniently".[10] Mayank Shekhar of Hindustan Times rated it 1/5 "Scenes may well be ho-hum and weak in parts. And they are. But for a musical, the soundtrack is pure third rate".[11] Raja Sen of Rediff rated it 1/5: "This is, start and foremost, a tacky moving picture. The tastelessness flowing correct downwards into the script, however, makes for a very different league of disaster".[12] Taran Adarsh of Bollywood Hungama rated it three/5: "Action Replayy is a light-hearted rom-com that should be viewed without actually seeking much rationale or logic backside every activity and reaction".[thirteen] Nikhat Kazmi of The Times of India rated information technology two.v/five: "Action Replayy needed a much smarter script to proceed the laughter ringing".[fourteen] Sarita Tanwar of Mid-Day rated information technology ii.v/5: "Watch it for the effort and for Akshay-Aishwarya's crackling chemistry."

Box office [edit]

Activity Replayy's opening day collections in India were Rs 48.0 million, one of the worst openings ever for an Akshay Kumar starrer.[15] Since the movie released on the day of Diwali, collections were lower than normal, nevertheless, it picked up pace at the box office on Saturday and its day 2 collections essentially increased to Rs 69 million.[15] [16] [17] The motion-picture show ultimately grossed 480 million.[xviii]
