Crave, Netflix co-productions snag dozens of Canadian Screen Award nominations

The Academy of Canadian Cinema and Tv has announced the nominees for the 7th almanac Canadian Screen Awards.

The annual awards, which celebrate achievements in Canadian picture show, television and digital media content, have notably recognized a number of original series that were co-produced streaming services.

The two serial with the most nominations, CBC's Anne of Dark-green Gables-focused dramaAnne with an Eand the Eugene and Dan Levy-led sitcomSchitt's Creek,both have ties to Netflix. The streaming giant co-producesAnne with an Due eastwhile also distributing both series internationally.

Anne with an Due eastandSchitt'southward Creek each racked up fifteen nominations in their respective drama and comedy categories, including those for best overall series, lead player and actress.

Bell'due south Crave service, meanwhile, racked upwardly xviii nominations, vii of which were for hit smalltown Ontario one-act seriesLetterkenny, including 1 for Jared Keeso (Best Actor) and Best Comedy Serial.

This year, the University has as well introduced the Radius Award to honor a Canadian who is making waves globally. The winner of this inaugural award to Toronto's Stephan James who had prominent roles in Annapurna Pictures' Oscar-nominated drama picture showIf Beale Street Could Talkand Amazon Prime Video's HomecomingTv set drama series, the latter of which he received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor in a Television Drama Serial.
